Placing and cementing Porcelain veneer using the Veneer Styx veneer positioner :-
Information provided by Cosmetic Innovations Inc
Following are step-by-step procedures for holding, positioning and cementing porcelain veneers using the Veeneer Styx veeneer positioner. Fig. 1 shows preparatinos in progress.
- Try-in veneers to verify fit, and use various try in pastes to ensure proper color and shade.
- Throughly clean tooth and veneer to remove all resudue.
- Prepare the tooth in the usual manner, using an antibacterial cleaning agent, etchant, primer, and adhesive, Note: The veneer should be silanated and ready for bonding (individual techniques vary).
- Place cement, carry the veneer to the tooth using fingers or tool of choice, then use a veneer Styx tip(Fiv.3) to help position the veneer, creating a fulcrum on adjacent teeth and using light finger pressure to hold veneer in place, Note: Make sure the tip is rotated so that the narrow portion is placed cervically (Fig.4) and the wider portino is more incisal.
- Swivel the tip to fit posterior teeth (Fig.5).
- User one hand to hold the handle, and the other to hold an intraoral mirror to verify that the veneer is in the proper position, and the margins are sealed.
- Once positioned, the assistant has clear visibility and easy access to light cure (Fig.6) and floss contacts (Fig.7).
- Remove the excess cement, then polish, finish, and check the occlusion (Fig.8).
